How to communicate CP 524 and WinCC?

I have a system consist of -S5 Cpu 115 U 945 -Cp 524 communication card And I have a WinCC computer with "Com port" I want to make an economical communication betweencp524 an myComputer. I will run WinCC. I know that, its possible to make a connection like this. It's written in the "WinCC V6 Communication Manual" I've researched but couldn't find any example of this communication. I know that I should use "Simatic S5 Serial 3964R" channel in the wincc side. But how to communicate? And which type of a cable should I use? Can anyone answer? Late Platinum Member Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 5/11/2025 Posts: 2705 Rating: (321)	Hi, You have to communicate with RK512 as protocol (3964R {R is for CRC check}is the procedure which is working under RK512). You could place the CP524 with the RK512 protocol, the CP524 card is working with FETCH and WRITE for WinCC so you have only to program a SEND-ALL and a RECV-ALL in the CPU and of course the datablocks where you want to work with. Further is the question how far are you away from the PLC with your PC, if you are less then 15 meter a way you could work with RS232, if not then you have to decide if you want to work with TTY or RS485 (non of them will work standard with the PC !!) If you now how you can communicate then the cable is to find in the handbook of the CP524. The WinCC connection RK512 is (I believe) standard in the protocolsuite of WinCC and can be chosen there.

In the support pages I found the cables pin assigment. Entry ID:92535 But here is written 25 pins for Cp524. Cp524 has 15 pins. Is this document wrong or am i? Thanks a lot Best regards

Hi, Starting with your last question, I am afraid that the CP524 have now a module for TTY or RS485/422.... that ones have 15 pins, see the handbook for the CP525, there is also the CP524 described I believe. As far I know you didn't have to do anything about the FETCH and WRITE in the STEP5 program, there you only need to SYNCHRON the card in the startup OBs and in the cyclic program you need a SEND-ALL and a RECV-ALL and of course the Datablocks to write to and read from. On the CP524 you have to initiate the FETCH and WRITE, I have that done last century, so I know that you have to do there something. In WinCC you need the communicating suite where you could choose as far I know directly the serial driver.

When I call these blocks one time in every program cycle (May be in OB1), are these blocks making the communication between the DB adresses in PLC and Tag adresses in the WinCC? I mean when I call these blocks, may I have permission to reachto the allDB adresses?(same TAG adresses in the WinCC) Hi, The SEND_ALL and RECV_ALL blocks transfer what is asked to the FETCH and WRITE that are on the CP524. So the best is to place the RECV_ALL in the beginning of OB1 and the SEND_ALL on the end for optimized communication. Normally it is so that all data is placed in the datablocks, please don't use all the datablocks but make a "Send-" and "Receive-" datablock where you copy all the data to/from to the user program in the S5 CPU. This is also to get the data faster and it is easier to manage in WinCC.
