CPU 414 firmware upgrade

Davor_Triqua Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello all, We have 2 x CPU414-4HJ00-0AB0 with almost all led’s lit. Recommendation from Siemens is to upgrade the firmware. Our PC with installed SIMATIC software is out of order and we are based offsore with limited resources. Is it possible to do it juts by copying unzipped files onto PCMCI card, using private PC? If not, would it be possible with SIMATIC S7 Lite software? Can anybody explain upgrade procedure, please!? Many thanks in advance

Dear Davor_Triqua Check this link for more detail and the procedure you need to do firmware update: Requirements for creating an operating system update card: S7 memory card operating system < V4.5.0: Flash 4 MB with order number 6ES7 952-1KM00-0AA0, or larger operating system >= V4.5.0: Flash 8 MB with order number 6ES7 952-1KP00-0AA0, or larger STEP 7 version V3.1 or higher PG or PC with external prommer for programming the memory card Creating the operating sytem update card with STEP 7: Download the desired CPU file Unpack the file by double-clicking the file name Delete the memory card via "File/Delete/S7 Memory Card" in the SIMATIC Manager. Program the operating system by selecting the following in the SIMATIC Manager: "Target system/Update AS Operating System", select the target directory and "open" the CPU_HD.UPD file to start the programming process. The operating system update card is programmed once the default mouse pointer reappears. To update the operating system in general: Power OFF on the power supply (PS) of the rack in which the CPU is located. Plug the prepared operating system update card into the CPU. Power ON on the power supply of the rack in which the CPU is located. The operating system is transferred from the Memory Card into the internal FLASH EPROM. During this time all the display LEDs light on the CPU (INTF, EXTF, FRCE, CRST, RUN, STOP). The operating system update is completed after about 2 minutes. This is indicated by the STOP LED blinking slowly on the CPU => system request to make an overall reset. WARNING: The self-test will start directly after the update. This can take a number of minutes depending on the size of the memory. Power OFF on the power supply and if necessary plug in the memory card provided for operation. Power ON on the power supply. The CPU automatically does an overall reset and then is immediately ready for operation. After the operating system has been successfully updated set the time-of-day. BR
