PLC program should generate differeces in WEB Data-logging in case of CPUreplacement... That is an interesting question. I do not think it is currently available as an option. I do not think user programs have access to raw tcp packet data or you could simply send yourself one data packet, read the mac address in the header, save it to a tag, and then write it to your csv datalogs. As an interim, create a retained DB with a tag for the mac address or serial # with the initial value you wish to use. Each time you download, set the value to your plc, and then the plc will have that value.

Kragic Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	I will solve this problem in another way.Outside the PLC. When replacing the CPU data logging content will change significantly. In this case, a service that collects data from CPU web-server, should start another service that check out the MAC address (at the same IP). Analogue case occurs in normal life through change of kilowatt hour meter: you get a newcounterserial number with "zero"oncounter. However it would be very nice if the SN and MAC could be read from the PLC program. I have lots of ideas where it could be used.

hbrianjr Posts: 13 Rating: (4)	If your S7-1200 firmware is V2.0.x or greater, there is a system function that can be used to programatically retrieve the Serial Number (along with other Identification and Maintenance (I&M) data). Use the RDREC (Read Data Record) block instruction found in theInstruction Catalog, Extended Instructions, Distributed I/O, DP & Profinet, RDREC. Make the call with the parameter set: ID = "PLC_1" (Or the name of your CPU) INDEX = 45040 MLEN = 0 RECORD = 100 Byte Area (I used P#M100.0 BYTE 100) You also need output parameters: STATUS : DWord (I used MD500) LEN: UInt (I used MW504) Trigger the call by setting the REQ parameter = TRUE The serial number is containedin the RECORD starting at byte 28 for 16 bytes (in my example above. MB128 - MB143) The format is CHAR. Hope this helps.

Used your above values exactly and I get a status of 16#0070_0000 which as I read the help means the request is rejected. Where is the PN instruction for RDREC reference? I searched and came up empty.

The RDREC call can consume several scans, make sure you hold the enable until busy is 0. For more information, search SFB52 RDREC.

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 11/19/2024 Posts: 15406 Rating: (2446)	I confirmed with Siemens tech support that the I&M0 response only returns: ... all you can get reading the im0 data is the part number, the hw and the firmware.You can't get the ip or mac address with this. This was verified by me also creating the I&M0 RDREC command. I did get a uniquely identifying characteristics in the RDREC response. For my S7-1215, I got 60 bytes of data back, the part #, serial #, and firmware level. So, yes, the serial # does come back and it is very quickly performed. Seems like a good check at startup to do once to see what PLC serial # it is running on. That can be added to the datalog. The data comes in as character data for everything except the firmware level. That is binary/hex. In my case, $03$00$01. Thanks for the suggestion!
