Hello, I'm a fresh out of college automation engineer that just got my first job (please bare with me haha) I'm currently working for an integrator company and as per our client's specification they have an ET200S plc and want to read an analog value from a HART enabled device (a level sensor FDU90 + it's transmitter FMU90); the client only specified that they need 4-20ma not necessarly through HART but the transmitter can only provide 4-20ma with HART or 0-20ma without HART, the problem that i'm facing now is that there aren't any AI modules with HART capability for the ET200S (IM 151-8) Now as far as i know the HART protocol is merely the original 4-20ma current signal + the HART digital data signal modulated within it. so my question is: can i simply read the HART enabled 4-20ma signal as a normal 4-20ma signal (2AI 2wire ST module)? The attached sketch was drawn by someone else trying to use the 6ES7134-4GD00-0A80 input card with a 4-wire transmitter. I don't know whether the 4-wire connections work or not. But it is a specific case where the transmitter is powered by a 24Vdc power supply which might not be the case with E&H unit. The power supply return (-) is used to complete the current loop circuit because the same DC power supply is used to power the Siemens card. I don't know how one would complete the current loop circuit when the transmitter is AC powered. An alternative would be to use a current loop isolator module that is passive on the input so it can handle the active output from the E&H and loop powered on the output side to match the active, sourcing input on the Siemens card. Hello, Yes i understand that, it is just confusing since the transmitter is powered with 220AC, wouldnt it be more plausible to treat it like a 2-wire output source since: 1) the unit is powered separately 2) the documentation (attached below) states that the auxillary energy is galvanically isolated from the analog output for the full documentation please refer to this link (Operating Instructions Prosonic S FMU90) Best regards, safar AttachmentBA00293FEN_1312-pages-125.pdf (558 Downloads) |

hi, have a look to the manual of the AI: 2AI I 2WIRE ST analog electronic module (6ES7134-4GB01-0AB0)as you see the pins 1 and 5 are just connected to the 24V DC. The other is the analog input. Try to connect one of your measuring wires to the AI(pin2 or 6) and the other one I wouldn´t connect anywhere or ,if it doesn´t work, to Mana. Don´t worry about the power supply. You don´t need any supply from the AI. hope this helps, regards, |
