Hello ugwu; There are many analog input modules available for the S7-300 family, and each has its particularities. They are all described in the following manual (chapter 6): https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/8859629 As an example, look at the data for the first module in the table, 6ES7331-7NF00-0AB0: 6.3 Analog input module SM 331; AI 8 x 16 Bit; (6ES7331-7NF00-0AB0) 6.3.1 Measurement types and ranges Introduction The measurement type and range is configured at the "measuring range" parameter in STEP 7. The default setting of the module is "voltage" measurement with "± 10V" range. You can use these default settings without having to program the SM 331; AI 8 x 16 Bit in STEP 7. This means that for this module the type and range of measurement is selected in Step 7, as a parameter for this module. Other modules use a "range module", a small square circuit plug that is found on the side of the module, and tha must be placed in one of 4 positions (A to D) to select the type and range of inputs. So basically you must decide which analog input module you plan to use in your project, and then search thhe manual above to fing out how this particular module ranges are set. Of course, once the type and range of input signal is selected, you must follow the wiring diagrams proposed in the manual to actually read the input correctly. And then there is the slight issue of transforming (scaling) the input signal (now a numerical value of 0-27648) to an engineering value, 0-100%, 0-250 gpm... This can be discussed in a later post.
