Here discussion is about Simatic MMC card which is having different internal structure to get identified by PLC. If you are doing format, that structure will get corrupted and PLC will not identify the MMC again. Even you have data in your PC or Not, you will not be able to do anything with formatted MMC

To overcome this, what can be tried is explained in the thread..

I know the market is flooded with lots of data recovery tools but I would advise you to not go for free one as they don't generally recover all the files.I myself is using Disk Drill sd card recovery on Mac https://www.cleverfiles.com/memory-card-recovery-mac.html from last few months for recovering lost data or files of my clients.If you want then you can try DD once else the best solution is to hire a data recovery service to recover the lost your files.
