what do you mean with protect some specific DBs? You can use the know how protection for the complete global DB. Use the function "Edit > Know-how protection".

Thanks for replying.

When I check the "Permit access with GET/PUT communication from remote partner" under the "Connection mechanisms" in the protection properties of the PLC, I permit access to all my DBs. I want to permit access only to the DBs that I choose to assign to the remote PLC. Otherwise a colleague PLC can cause problem to my program by PUTting values in a wrong DB.

How can I prevent this from happening?

 After you have made access with PUT/GET will it solve your problem with adding a know-how protection on the databases you will protect or am I wrong? I don't know much about it but my input is better than none

hi,

the setting for access with PUT/GET is a general setting for the whole CPU.

When you change Communication to OPC UA, you can select the values in the DB which are accessable from OPC UA.

It is my understanding (yet not tested) - - -
(valid for firmware version V4.0 and above)

1. The security is configured in the DB itself with:

2. The linking to optimized structured DB will be a problem. PUT/GET rely on fixed addressing. Setting a DB as optimized makes it difficult for PUT/GET functions.

3.  It is possible to configure an HMI password. The HMI should use the password to link to the PLC. This may be helpful - needs further exploration.
