I am doing a project of linear motion control point to point positioning on single axis with incremental encoder feedback using cpu s7-314c , with Servo drive and motor, using Step-7 Ver 5.5 with Easy motion control v 2 (EMC2). Since servo motor controls have choices of mode controls I am bit confused which control mode best suits my requirement. Positioning mode which needs digital pulses for positioning speed and direction. But I don't know how I could manage this with my CPU? And As of other modes that is Speed and Torque control with analog speed and direction signals, which one will be best ?. For analog control signal I could use Chanel-0 , please guide...

If you have a drive who can handle positioning internaly you give the setpoint/target position via communication, or you parametrate the target positions in the drive and just select one of them with the PLC. This dependes on the posibilities your drive has. The position feedback and target and standstill accuracies is made in the drive.
