Presently start up of IMCC having 44nos of Simocodes(pro c and pro v) is in
progress. We are facing problem of profibus communication with EMERSON DCS. All
Simocode are communicating fine with baudrate of 185kbps. With baudrate
500kbps, data values at DCS is getting lost frequently and showing BAD
Value. We have installed profibus repeaters 3 nos. Details of profibus looping is attached for reference. most
Importantly
the distance from DCS profibus module to IMCC panel is not more then 40 meters Please revert regarding the solution.

Hi hsnaik, are the PROFIBUS terminal resistors set correctly for your PROFIBUS segments connected via those three repeaters (see manual here: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/attachments/48598071/rs_485_repeater_manual_en-US_en-US.pdf )? Which position have the slide switches 'S1', 'Mode' and 'S2' of your repeaters? Did you consider the three PROFIBUS repeaters in your engineering software like e.g. STEP7 regarding PROFIBUS bus parameters? Cheers |

Sorry, just trying to help.....and I did read your post carefully ... from my personal experience I would have assumed that something with PROFIBUS cabeling / resistors is not correct due to the fact that communication failures at higher transmission speeds are mostly caused by "bad PROFIBUS installations". -->Example excerpt from "SIMATIC NET PROFIBUS Network Manual System Manual" page 43 of 350: "...Node attachments at 1.5 Mbps
When connecting to a e.g. 12MBaud PROFIBUS with PC/PG via spur line you need a special cable ( https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/pv/6ES7901-4BD00-0XA0/pi ) in order to avoid PROFIBUS communication failures by just plugging/attaching your PG/PC to a running 12MBaud PROFIBUS bus system. page 42 of 350 "..... Length of the spur lines Table 3- 2 Length of spur lines per segment ...."
Cheers
