UPS and transformer for PLC

Hi All,

    For my  PLC control panel I want select UPS and Transformer.Transformer  is step down from 230 VAC to 110 VAC. I have 4 no.of 10 A power supply(SITOP PSU100L 24V/10A 6EP13341LB00).

Input Current

● at rated input voltage 120 V             4.1 A

● at rated input voltage 230 V              2.4 A

● inrush current                                       65 A

Output Current 

Rated current value Iout rated               10 A 

For Calculation of UPS and Transformer I just need to add power supply input current only? is it right?or I have to add input and output current of power supply? Whether I need to add inrush current also? Please help to understand this.

If possible please give some example.

You need to know what your transformer needs on the secondary side.

What voltage does your mains supply(on primary side) have? the information for the primary side (● at rated input voltage 120 V 4.1 A     ● at rated input voltage 230 V  2.4 A) are only to know how to fuse the transformer. It means, if the transformers current on the secondary side is 10A on the primary side you have 4.1A at 120V or 2.4A at 230V.

The inrush current is just the current in the very first time, when you turn on the transformator. This is also a indicator for which fuse you need. 

My advice for you:

Learn how electricity works! These are questions the anwers I learned in my first year of apprenticeship. Electricity can be very dangerous and people can be hurt by it.

  I have still some queries about you reply. First transformer primary side voltage is 230 V and Secondary side voltage is 110 V. As earlier said I have 4 no.of 10 A power supply(SITOP PSU100L 24V/10A 6EP13341LB00) details are below.

Input Current

● at rated input voltage 120 V             4.1 A

● at rated input voltage 230 V              2.4 A

Output Current 

Rated current value Iout rated               10 A 

Suppose if I consider Input current of each power supply at 120 V is 4.1 A means my total load current is 16.4 A.= (4*4.1).

  As per my understanding I need 2 KV transformer (VA = 120*16.4A = 1968 VA = 1968/1000 =1.9 KV). So primary side current will be 8.6 A and Secondary side current will be 16.6 .

Please let me know whether above calculation right or wrong.
