in my posted link the last entry (three years ago) was splitted to Error Code 170. But here the problem is code 107.

Nevertheless, have you tried to uninstall SQL Server from your notebook and removed the directory, too? I had an issue with the SQL setup when installing another software and got it fixed that way.

If you have a newer version of SQL server installed (like SQL 2008), then it may cause the installation of SQL 2005 to fail.

You may have to uninstall the SQL 2008 first.
