BWS Posts: 22 Rating: (1)	Hello All, Does anyone out there know of a method for plotting x-y coordinates in WinCC? I would like to have something similar to the x-y scatter plot in Microsoft Excel. Can this be done in WinCC or will I have to use an outside application to do this and call it from WinCC? Thanks, BWS

You can use Online Tags / Archived Tags or Even User Archive Tags for X-Y Function trend Regards Navnag

BWS Posts: 22 Rating: (1)	Thanks for the reply, but I don't think that will work for my application. My first post wasn't very clear. What I will be receving is approx 1000 x,y coordinates. These coordinate will be display on an x-y graph. There is a computer model that will be updating these coordinates as the operation of the process continues. The trend control just plots one point at a time and it it time based. I need to plot values with an x-coordinate (length) and a y-coordinate (height). Is there a way to do this?

Function Trend control plots two different tags on X & Y axis. Pl check it out. I think this is what you need Regards Navnag

BWS Posts: 22 Rating: (1)	I investigated using the function trend control. This control still plots only one point at a time. In my application, I will need to plot ~100 points simultaneously. Each time the computer model outputs new values, I need to erase the old plot and plot these new values very quickly. It would be similar to having a defined data range for a chart in MS Excel and changing the values in that data range each time the computer model writes new values. It would bemorelike a chartthan atrend. Does anyone know how to incorporate the MS Chart control into WinCC?

Obviously you did not configure something correctly and that is why you get a trend of just one value! The Function Trend Control is complicated and need more thorough study. In my project I use X-Y plot and I use of course Function Trend Control. Something more! With Function Trend Control you can have ideal curve which can be stored into User Archive. You can develop a C-script which can read cyclically your model from CSV file and store it into User Archive table. The Function Trend Control will update its view from the User Archive table. As far as I know in WinCC v6.2, Function Trend Control can get ideal curve directly from CSV format file (I am still don't work with WinCC v6.2). regards, Svetozar Yolov

BWS Posts: 22 Rating: (1)	I appreciate your input and I understand completely what you are saying about the function trend control. I set it up in my application and it worked exaclty as you said it would. However, this isn't what I want need. The function trend plots the x and y values of a function. These values are plotted one after the other based on the update rate of the trend. Lets say I have 100 coordinate pairs to plot. The control would plot point 1, then 2, then 3, etc. until it reaches point 100. This would give a nice graph, but it takes to long to plot all of the points. By the time it finished plotting the first set of points, the system may have updated the points many times. For my application, I am reading socket messages and writing the data to internal tags. In total, I have ~2500 coordinate pairs sent in each message. Each graph has 100 coordinate pairs. I have to plot all coordinate pairs at the same time. I can't wait for the trend control to plot them over the course of many seconds. My solution right now it to write the coordinate to the indexes of a polyline. I can do this using a VB script and it takes < 1s. If you can tell me how to configure the Function trend control to plot these points as quickly, I am more that willing to try it. However, I think that I don't need a "trend", but a chart. I am not trying to show the trend of a value, I am plotting the profile of a cylinder. I recieve this information all at once and I need to plot it all at once. I don't think the trend controls are set up to handle this, but if I am wrong, please let me know how to do it. -BWS
