Dear All, I always get a error popup stating " An error has occured. Please close all PCS 7 applications. If you cannot, click on reboot". This error always occurs whenever I try starting my WinCC Runtime. The project is in development stage, and no PLC system is connected to it. I am sure that the softwares are installed properly, as I never encountered any errors during installation. I happened to get some threads regarding this, but I could not find any solution. I use F systems and safety matrix engg tool in addtion to PCS 7 software. Kindly guide. Ganesan |

Does this happen with all projects? Use the PCS7 wizard to create a test project and try activating WinCC runtime in this test project (after running OS project editor). |

This error occured to me too. By redownloading OS from ES, the problem was solved. Probably WinCC data was somehow corrupted. |

I also have the problem sometimes but not during restarting. Sometimes, I don't know why, I receive this message. |

I have this exact same problem as well. I notice that it occurs whenever I first login into the OS. The way I get around this is to start the task manager and end it whenever it pops up. After doing this, the runtime activation will continue as normal and I can get into runtime. Re-downloading to the OS from the ES doesn't seem to fix this error for me either, it'll come back again. |

I have seen this kind of error (sometimes) when you end task WinCC runtime after it hangs. It means your WinCC is encountering problems during startup and/or runtime. The reason for the problems could be a defective installation or bad project. The best way to check this is by using a test project. One tip: Do not deactivate WinCC runtime from deactivate button on WinCC explorer. Instead use the deactivate key in runtime. This will ensure that the shutdown is initiated properly. Regards |

Hey July, That's a very interesting fix. I noticed that file too and was afraid of renaming it and accidentally causing some more errors. Anyways, how long have this fix worked for you and have you seen anything unsual after doing this? |

This means the reasons (mentioned in my earlier post))that were triggering the exe file got temporarily "fixed". But we have not really found the root cause and I will not be surprised if the problem reappears! |
