I am using tia portal v15.1 and wincc professional. I want to set complexity for user password but i can not found any option in wincc professional. Any solution for that?

Hello  miahok,

you can not yet set a complexity for a userpassword inside
the WinCC Useradministrator in this version.
The complexity is only, at least six characters.

You could use alternatively the option Simatic Logon.
In this case the users are managed inside Windows,
and the password complexity, set in Windows is relevant.

i have set the authentication is against our MS active directory, it is really helpful and you can create security groups there; each group has its own privilege.

it is very flexible, and also it is centralized.

actual version WinCC V7.5 SP2.

I have Tia Portal V16 Update 4 and your link does not seem to apply to that.

There are no settings for password policy in the User Administration area. There are settings under Security Settings / Settings but these do not apply to the users in the User Administration area (I think these are described as local users), they only apply to users set up in Security Settings / Users and Roles (I think these are called global users).

This should be such a simple thing, it is hard to believe that it is not available and I keep thinking I must have missed something but I have looked hard and cannot see. I am loathe to use SIMATIC Logon as it is a complication that should not be needed.

Just a follow up to aid anyone else that may find this. I gave up trying to do this with the standard package and wrote my own user admin in C-Script. This allowed me to check passwords myself. It also provided a method to generate events when a user is added, deleted or modified. 

Maybe a future version will include simple password policy
