Absolute Encoder Lose its Referanace

I have got also PLC S7-400 Communicationvia profibus. 2 of my axesare absolute After download / (drive unit to target device) one of Absolute axes lose its referance and other remain referanced. 1. I amreferancing Axis again 2. Copy RAM to ROM 3. Target Device -> Load to PG 4.Save Project After all when I download again project thisAxis lose its refferance again. I wonder what can be wrong? I do not want to lose referans Which parameter can couse losing of referans?

Dave Posts: 271 Rating: (29)	Hello Ozi, Apparently you are using the Basic Positioner and the Sinamics S120 Toolbox (i.e., FB283). The drive is operating in positioning mode and you have two axes with very likley EnDat absolute encoders. If you configured your drives correctly in positioning mode, then you need to set the home position for the absolute encoders. The STARTER tool will automatically conduct a RAM-to-ROM save function for you. Once this is done you can load the project to your PG/PC and save it on your PG/PC hard drive. If you take this saved project and download it to another set of drives on another machine, how can you guarantee that the axes are in exactly the same physical place as on the previous machine. The answer is that you can not!!! Do not expect the reference point to be okay if you just download the projecct to the S120 drives. You will need to reset the reference position again each time. Hope this helps...

Actualy this is not the all story.... 2 times I had this trouble below in 10 days. I had twice error in CU 320 and all axes It was not posible from Starter to reset faults I had to reset CU fault by Power OFF and ON After wich CU Faults resets but one of Axis (Always The same) Lose its referance. From help file (Active homing): If you use an absolute value encoder, you only need to perform an absolute value calibration. Click the Perform absolute value calibration button. The button is active only online. If the calibration is successful, a message appears. Drives -> Servo-> Technology -> Basic positioner -> Homing -> Homing configuration -> Click for additional inputs Best regards.

F7016 tells me that either your wiring is not correct or that you do not have standard thermistor monitoring of the motor temperature. You should consider setting this function up properly (e.g., check your settings for p600 and p601). F7453 apparently is indicating that the signal from your positioning encoder is not correct. It could be that the signal level is too low (i.e., less than 1 volt peak-to-peak or ???). Hopefully the cable length to the encoder is not excessively long. It appears you have the same problem on all three axes. Could it be your wiring? Now the last fault messages are F31860, 30885 and 31885 which indicate to me that the telegrams you're using are not set up correctly and that the Profibus master may not be in the "Run" mode. I highly recommend that you consider making use of the Sinamics S120 Toolbox and use FB283 from Siemens to control your drives. FB283 gives you excellent control of the CU320's and drives. If I visited your site, I would consider resetting everything to factory settings and only connect up one axis. Then get it working. Then I'd consider adding another axis and then the last. Wish I could be of more help. My best regards...

Hi, I have similar problem with absoulute encoder, Ok this with calibrating in starter works , but I have bit from PLC( Panel) , which i want to use for referencing and that it stay after the power is off. This button currently set´s the reference , but it doesn´t stay after power is off. So how this bit should be interconected that it works?
