Operatorpanel for ddisplaying values from mdobus nodes without plc

GoForIT Posts: 352 Rating: (7)	I have the following case, an application to be certified for buying and selling. We have a flow meter and a temperature transmitter both with modbus. How can I display theese values and output them to a printer without using a plc?? It is very important that the values can't be manipulated. Need a little help here.... O

GoForIT Posts: 352 Rating: (7)	We are talking about Endress & Hauser Proline Promass 84F. The bustype is Modbus RS485. It is essential that is not possible to modify the data read from the device. We just want to print one line st start and a new line at stop. StartTimestampe, acc. volumeflow, temperature . StopTimestamp, acc. volumeflow, temperature. I have very limited knowledge on modbus (we usally use profibus) Can the driver for this device be installed in MP277?? Is this possible??

Dilli Posts: 122 Rating: (1)	Your task seems to be simple. You need WinCC Flexible ET (200*) and panel (MP277). Create connection Modicon ModBUS RTU - it may be compatible with your devices, and tags. You decide in your project if your data is read/write or read-only. Report system helps you to print data.

dchartier Grandmaster Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 1/14/2026 Posts: 12481 Rating: (2722)	Hello GoForIT; GSD files are exclusive to Profibus-DP. There are no definition files for Modbus slaves. I really suggest that you look up the Modbus standard, freely available on the web. It should clarify many things or this project. As long as you have setup one (and only one) Modbus master on the network, it will be able to read/write data to all Modbus slaves on the bus, through Modbus jobs and Functions (read up on that part especally). Restrictions are that all Modbus nodes be identified with a single, unique address, and that of course they respect the Modbus standard and Modbus (Modicon) addressing. You will also need to study each slaves' Modbus register mapping (available from the manufacturer) so you understand what specific data you will wand to read or write to.
