Hello matthew; I am unceratin about one thing (major issue) in your description: are comms already established between you base and master units, or is this a project you want to setup? In case you have to decide on the type of comms to be used in your project, S7-300 CPUs will give you many choices, with different requirements in hardware and software blocks: Profibus-DP, Industrial Ethernet, Profinet... Between 2 S7-300 stations the easieat and less costly interface is Profibus-DP, using one station as a master and others as a slave. They can all use the integrated DP interface that many s7-300 CPUs have, or can be setup with a CP 345-2 if they do not have one. The configuration is easily done with the Profibus Configurator available in the HWConfig editor, and you need program no communications blocks for data exchange. Also profibus-DP includes many diagnostic features, inbuilt, or you can use dedicted SFCs (standard functions) for specific diagnostics, or you can also use a dedicated Function Block FB126 that monitors the status of every node on the network and give warning of lost slaves and modules on the PLC or on the HMI panels. Industrial Ethernet also allows fast exchanges, but require their dedicated comm. processors on the PLC, and programming of the exchange blocks is mandatory. Lifebeat can be monitored, but requires that you dedicate yoiur own programming to establish it. For starters here are a few links to a manual on S7 communications, along with sample programs you can study to see the different types of communications available between S7-300 and S7-400 CPUs. New question published by vukhiem is split to a separate thread with the subject PLC S7-300: 315-2AH14-0AB0 and 5 CP: 343-1EX30-0XE0: transfer data between them. Best regards |
