CM 1241 RS485 Problem

Per Olof Posts: 311 Rating: (3)	Hello all, I have problem with a CM 1241 RS485 that is connected to a transmitter. I have connected two wiries from the transmitter to the RS485 (TxD+ and RxD-). I have setup the transmitter to transmitt continues, but the diods on the RS485 is not flashing. When does the diods flash ? Do I need to setup the software to get the diods flash ? Cheers Per Olof

Cheers Per Olof Yes, you need to configure the send/receive parameters for the 485 module in your TIA Portal Project, then compile all the hardware/software, and lastly, download and start the project in your PLC. It takes a considerable amount of time to figure out that the 485 receive configurations are OR options rather than AND options. Any of the receive options that are enabled allow it to work. Set the baud rate to your transmitter's settings, bits/parity/etc. Remember to pass the common wire between the devices as well. It needs 3 wires, at least according to Siemens tech support:TxD+/RxD+, TxD-/RxD-, Common. I posted some 485 related topics in these forums in the past. They may be helpful. Google should find them for you.
