Hi Guys 

We have a problem with a 840c running windows 3.1 . 

The machine was left off for some time and we had a battery alarm. We replaced the battery and tried reloading the memory, following the Siemens procedure we get to a point where no communication with NCK and cant get past this ,  I have the led display showing 3 as per pictures

Any help would be greatly appreciated 

 The picture you post is SIMODRIVE 611A  drive system--there are 1 Power supply Module, 5 feed drive modules and 1 spindle module--the Led display on all drive modules showing they missing enable.----this is NOT 840C CNC!

It seems that system NC file has got corrupted & hence booting does not completes. Please check if you have system software or if not, try by reloading back up data.

I have tried reloading backup but cant complete the reload i just get error no communication to NCK 

 Saw all the pictures. Now I have question for you--what happened exactly your 840C system.

your said you system show you Battery alarm--I think that is "9V battery on CSB module. You replaced battery. the system should booting ( I am not sure for Win 3.1 version, I am sure for DR DOS version).

the system booting or not booting is depending on your MMC CPU, all file setting is saved on HDD, battery lower will nothing to do with that. Battery low , you only lost DATA in NC CPU RAM and PLC CPU ram. If you have good back up you should easy to recover by loading them. Some people call these 2 file %TEA1--NC MD, and %TEA2--PLC MD. PLC program and alarm text saved on HDD, will working when system recover. (of cause need some step, but very easy).

Can you please let me know how about your MMC booting--before your load back up. better take picture--post here.

Another question is are you sure your system is win 3.1 MMC? and your system is working good before your battery alarm? Did you see it working good at least one time? otherwise your system information is not sure, we no need to waste of time here.

I give your small tips before get your answer my questions.

When your change battery, then 1st time re-booting, you need set service switch on CBS to "4" normally you will see system booting--MMC finish showing Siemens 840C LOGO with light blue color background , then you can start to load back up data from MMC HDD in Service menu.
