My D435 will be an I-device connecting to an F-PLC and I will be using Profisafe on my servo axes, but I also wish to configure some DCM drives (CBE cards fitted to Advanced CU's) in Simotion as speed axes. I need them to drive to perform passive homing on my external Encoder. My question is, do I include them on the Profinet bus in the H-W config of my D435 . . . AND THEN create the I-Device GSD? This is a little bit new to me, so any advice would be appreciated. Regards, Graeme

Your must not create/export the GSDML file when you make changes on the PN Configuration of the SIMOTION until you change any settings on the I-Device tab Regards Christoph

The reason for my question was difficulty when creating the DCM axis, I could not see the encoder (DCMx.Actor), so I could not assign the axis. I thought it was something to do with the HW Config, but I created a digital encoder and it worked ok. Cheers, Graeme

Have you create a telegram slot for the DCM in HWConfig/SCOUT? The DCM devices are not supported by the the Feature "Symbolic Assigment" in SCOUT! Regards Christoph

I have given a Skydrive Link as the file is > 5MB, see linkHERE It uses the latest DCM's and a D435-2 using Scout 4.3. I tested the axis commands in an MCC program and I think I can connect to the DCM's. Is this what you mean? Regards, Graeme

ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 1/12/2026 Posts: 22795 Rating: (3073)	Hello, yes that's i mean. in the project ist the option "use symbolic assignment" not enabled, so there will no automatic telegram configuration done for the DCM and it will work fine You can connect the actor interfaces from the DCM Drives, the encoder interfaces are not available on a DCM because the DCM supports no PROFIDRIVE telegram with Encoder values (2,3).
