Hi siemeneitor since you mention S7-315 CPU's, this will have to be a so called Software redundant system. It's the "poor cousin" of a real redundant system (e.g. S7-400H, S7-1500H) and - as the name suggests - implemented entirely via software blocks on any standard S7-300's or 400's. As this lead to subtle program/config differences between the two CPU's, the short answer is that you'll have to backup both CPU's individually. Classic Step 7 (V5.x) is the tool for this as the relevant software redundancy library blocks were never ported over to TIA Portal Step 7 (and probably never will). wow, your answer is very useful! i have read your links and manuals and now i know a lot more about this. After seeing a video about this topic, i have the question: im secure that i need to upload both plcs on the same project, but its necesary put in stop the plc slave? or can i connect my lap to it without make any changes? if i need to make changes, do i need to proceed normally or make something else? i have the perception that siemens doesnt support enough this topic :S

You can upload the program from both CPU's while they are in Run. Only thing to note is that the content of the DB that are used for software redundant data exchange between the two CPU's will not have the same data in each (as time has passed between the two individual CPU uploads, but this shouldn't matter all that much anyhow). How to make program changes while the system is running is explained in chapter 6.8 of the previously linked manual and not all that difficult (although also not as convenient as with a "real" redundant system). |
