Thank you Denilson, as always a very informative post. My query is regarding whether or not the HSC can be simulated with PLCSim. I've upgraded the project to v15.1 and swapped the CPU to one with firmware version > 4.0 and selected the simulation support during block compilation under project properties --> protection. I then compiled all and downloaded hw & sw and I then toggle the clock generator input i0.0 but I do not see any change in the count value. Would I perhaps need PLCSim Advanced for this? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AttachmentHSC_V14_V15.1.zip (128 Downloads) |

Since you cannot check hardware with PLCSim, what software / logic are you wanting to check that toggling the count input would do? You can adjust your logic to move the count to an internal DB tag and use that internal DB tag for all the work with the count input. In this way, you can _intercept_ that count input MOVE or copy during simulation and use the PLC clock input and an edge detector to cause the count to change.

Yes that is true, I have seen examples on the forum (as in the original post from D Chartier) where you can access the count value directly from the IO address. From the manual The Technology Objects (TO) of SIMATIC S7-1500(T) https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/attachments/109743134/109743134_S7-1500T_TechnologyObjects_DOC_v10_en.pdf it looks like HSC is a TO. Also, when I add it in TIA it appears under Technology Objects. Where my understanding then falls short is what defines a TO, is it just the configuration or has it got something to do with a software object in the controller itself?
