Can the S7-1200 have a IP address assigned via DHCP server?

KevinN Posts: 41 Rating: (3)	Hi, Our IT department assigns IP addresses to all our hardware using a DHCP server. They will normally give me the subnet mask and IP address. This IP address is usually fixed for the MAC address but they can change it on their side if the wish. Is there any way to let the S7-1200 get its IP address automatically instead of specifying one? Worst case scenario if it is not possible to use the DHCP server, I will just have to get all the IPs for each PLC based on its MAC address and manually enter them. Thanks for any advice or help in advance!

KevinN Posts: 41 Rating: (3)	Thanks John. I am not familiar with the "T_CONFIG or downloaded by the Profinet DCP protocol" methods and I can't seem to find much info about them. Could you possibly shed some light on how I would go about using them. At the moment I am using the Primary Setup Tool and assigning IP addresses to the PLCs beforehand. Then in TIA Portal I select the "Set IP address using a different method" option when setting up the Profinet interface. This seems to work.

Like from where, the PLC programm? Set the check for "Set IP address using a different method" Insert a T_CONFIG FB Call from Library > Communication > Open User Communication That's about it.
