Hello , But in the case of having a dp / pa collector how would it proceed, according to what I found is through a gsdtool tool and here include the gsd file of the profibus pa instrument, the detail is that I do not know how to configure the data types in the gsd and I give it everything by default, as I am working with the im153-2 it would be a dp / pa link, when I already load the gsd I follow the steps and I put address 2 to the coupler both in hardawre siemens and softawre abb, I would have to put an address to the instrument pa ?? Hello Hernan; First, is this the document you have been consulting to configure your DP/PA Link on your ABB Profibus-DP master? How do you connect the IM 157/IM 153-2 in the DP/PA Link to an external master or a SIMATIC S5? (GSD tool) https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/26562190 From the contents of your post, it seems you have followed the steps pretty well. But your screenshot shows diagnostic messages on your ABB hardware (AC 800M and CI854, it seems), can you investigate what the ABB CPU is complaining about? A BF signal shows detection of a bus fault, generally a discrepancy between the address of the Profibus node and the configured address in the master's configuration software. Does the BF appear on the IM 153-2 or on the FDC 157-0? Check the information available in the DP/PA link manual you can download from the GSD tool link above: Address (Profibus-DP) of the IM 153-2 :(check the addressing diagram, it is often a source of problems, the LSB of the dipwitches is not used for addressing. For Profibus address 2, only diswitch #3 should be on.). https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/1142696/29932665483 LED displays on the DP/PA coupler (part of the DP/PA link: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/1142696/29934856971 Our projects team has used the DP/PA Link and Simatic PDM with Controllogix (Rockwell) and RX3i (GE) CPUs in the past, and I can assure you that if the gsd file is properly setup and the hardware configured adequately (no BF!) it transfers the instrumentation data quite reliably. Concentrate on the BF LED, this seems to be the error message that is blocking you; when you correct the issue you should see data exchanges on the DP/PA link. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello Daniel , The document tells me that I have to check the settings in the pa network but the gsd tool procedure only tells me to generate the gsd file previously by adding the gsd of the pa instrument. Hello Hernan; From the VegaPuls 63 operating instructions below, you can set the (Proffibus-PA) address the instrument either through the addressing (rotary) switches inside the housing, or with software applications. Notably you can use PactWare (or Simatic PDM) function "set slave addrtess" as they both act as masters class 2 on Profibus. VegaPuls 63 Profibus operating instructions, Profibus-PA https://www.insatech.com/downloads/Manual_PULS63_Profibus_PA_36513-EN_120301.pdf Both PactWare and PDM are optional software that allow the calibration and configuration of PA slaves over the network (Profibus-PA, HART, Profibus-DP...). They allow for a supervisory view of instruments in the field, which is practical in large installations; whether you need them or not you have to decide for yourself. When the VegaPuls 63 is delivered, it comes by default with address 126 (max. address of a Profibus-PA instrument is 125), so it cannot be reciognized by the Profibus configurator. On your ABB network configurator (I believe they still use Sycon) you should see a Profibus-DP address for the Profibus-DP slave (IM 153-2, at add. 2 as set on the interface dipswitches) and a PA address for the VegaPuls 63, say add. 3 [since it is the first instrument configured on PA], both in the configuration and on the rotary switches of the instrument.
