Good day - I have beentasked withthe design of a configurable safety system. 1) The system consists of 5 ET200S Safety PLCs. 2) There will be 2 Robot and 3 Turntable PLCs. 3) Each PLC has to be able to operate stand-alone. 4) Each Robot can be configured to operate concurrently with any 1 of the 3 Turntables. In this event we want the Safety Systems of the Robot and Turntable to be interconnected. 5) The rest of the PLCs would be excluded from this pairing. 6) The current hardware approach is to use DP/DP couplers where by each Robotcan send/receive Safety Data from each Turntable. The Robots would use seperate ProfiBus networks so if one Robot fails the other can continue to function. 7) The pairing of a Robot and Turntablewill be dictated by an external real time controller. Since I am just beginning to look at how the Safety Software will be written now is a good time to seek guidance from all that may have some experience with this type of situation. Hi Electronomo You may want to look at using the IM151-8 F PN CPU instead of the IM151-7F. The PN version has the ability to send/receive safe data between cpus via ethernet without any other devices. You will need to use the FSend S7 and FReceive S7. One issue with doing it this way is that it is a little slower therefore you should use the following tool S7FCOTIB.xls see links below to calculate response time. You can also add a Profibus master card to the IM151-8F if you want. Or another approach inlieu of DPDP couplers is to use ISlave to ISlave communication. To do this you will need an S7 master and all other PLCs as slaves.
