Im trying to migrate a program from Mitsubishi to Siemens PLC using TIA PORTAL.

Can anyone help me to understand and translate the attached picture to Siemens using TIA PORTAL?

I would like to ask for any application examples you might have in TIA Portal, I'm new using the software and programming Siemens PLC

This will be a complete re-write.

I did try to translate one program from Mitsubishi to S7-300 and it was a big disaster.

You will need either write thing from scratch or translate it manually.

The Markers - make a Global Data Block with merker definitions to retain the names i.e. GLOBAL

then all markers will be called in it Mxxx and have a bool addresses. this way instead of M855 you call it global.M855

the same for D [assume integer addresses]

Input/Outputs - have another DB called inoutdb with named in/outs like in Mitsubishi

and then do a FC which will buffer your physical in/outs to the DB. this way you can retain names from Mitsubishi which will make translating easier

When whole code is translated/tested you can add more descriptions to the program because you will understand it better.

I am trying to translate it manually since there is a HMI application already built for this project, and it is expected to be as similar as it can from mitsubishi PLC.

Any help on how to read the logic sent in my original trend?

The RST D306 is D306:=0

The [> D306 K0]------------(M803) is M803=(D306>0)

K is constant

The Timer constant K30 is time (please check time base i.e. if it is in s x 10 or in s x 100)

It's been very helpful.

One more question, How can I restart a DB.DBWXXX to ZERO.

I noticed that the Mitsubishi PLC execute a restart to Zero once the program starts, this is due to the project uses "Recipes" in Auto Mode, so the program must set a Memory area to zero before the Auto execution

Any Idea about accomplishing this in Tia Portal, its been a long time not programming, and not really familiar with TIA Portal functions.

ref init at PLC boot:

Switch OFF Retain Data and it will reset it to 0

Other option is to program a startup OB (OB100) which is executed once at PLC startup and initialize data there.

I've done a couple of Melsec Mitsi A1S to Step 7.

The last one took a day+, using a Python script to change AND to A, ORI to ON etc. into STL/AWL source. As a one-pass process it converts about 60%, it won't look-ahead so rungs with OR branches don't convert well.

And you will still need to visually check each rung against the original.

I'll try to clarify some of your requests:

1. First, the meaning of Mitsubishi CODE:

 1.1 M800, M801 are Retentive Battery Backup Bits and M310 are non Retentive (i: for most of Mitsubishi FX PLC's M500 onwards depend on FX CPU are Battery Backed, for Mitsubishi Q-Series are set as "L" instead: L15 or L234 and so on)

 1.2 M8002 is bit equal to ON only for the first CPU Scan then is equal to OFF until the CPU stops and starts again. (i: M8002 is System Memory Bit such as M8000 - Always On ; M8001 Always OFF ect. This bits comes pre-assign with the CPU and there is no need to setup any CPU Parameters. M8000 Bit ranges are used only for Mitsubishi Middle Range Series PLC's - FX CPU's, Hi Level PLC's such as Q-series use SM400 - Always ON, SM401 - Always OFF, SM402 First CPU Scan, SM412 - 1sec pulse and so on. All this can be found in CPU manual.)

 1.3 K0 or K30 is equal to Decimal 0 or 30, Mitsubishi using "K" for decimal "H" or "16#" for Hexadecimal and "2#" for binary. So for Example Decimal [K13] = Hexadecimal [HD] or [16#D] or Binary [2#1101]

 1.4 [ >  D306 K0 ]---------------(M803) Mean: D306 is 16bit register and as longer is greater then 0 the bit M803 is ON. Mitsubishi use 32 bit registers when declare function as this:

[ D> D306   K0 ]----------(M803) In this case "D" Mean Double Register and it's combine D306 and D307(next one) as 32 bit register.

 1.5  ---| M800 |-----------------------[ T0 K30 ] Mean: Timer Contact --| T0 |-- will switch ON  and remain ON when M800 bit is held ON for Longer the 3sec ( if Timer is 100ms base on PLC Parameters then: 30x100ms=3000ms=3sec), and will Switch back OFF as soon as the memory bit M800 goes OFF.

2. SIEMENS Setup

 2.1 If you are using TIA with S7-1200 or S7-1500 then under the CPU General Parameters > System and Clock Memory, you can setup System Memory Byte for bits: Always ON, Always OFF, First CPU Scan ect. (See attached photo )

 2.2 If you are using older CPU's such as S7-300 CPU then you need to insert OB100 to your project and inside to SET Memory Bit by your choice and then ADD RESET for this Memory Bit on the end of your Main Organisation Block OB1 or OB[Main] if you want to simulate First PLC SCAN Bit. In fact the lower range S7-200 CPU has Pre-setup System Memory Bits for this.
