Hello mpy65; Extension of a Profibus-DP network over fiber optic cable requires OLM modules (optical link modules). If you look at the screenshot below, you might notice that each OLM has a Sub-D 9-pin connector (for connection of a standard copper Profibus segment) and fiber-optic connectors for the F.O. cable). So the OLM act as a network transition from copper to F.O. You can use plastic or glass cable with varying distances available, in linear, star or ring topologies. Details can be found in the OLM operating instructions manual: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/view/109476821 To insert a Modbus transition on the Profibus F.O. segment, the easiest would be to insert an ET 200_ station at the endpoint of the F.O. cable, with a Modbus master module in the final station. It is difficult at this time to propose definite equipment since you do not mention your PLC family or programming software, but ET 200M supports CP 341 as Modbus Masteror slave, ET 200SP supports the CM PTP as Modbus master or slave... that could all be used in such a network. Hope this helps, |
