Hello, what application would you like to design? If you want to do some positioning with s7-1200, you could use the technology object (TO) "PositioningAxis" of the CPU. Then you could connect the encoder to the technology object and you could give the "set value" of the technology object (velocity of the drive) to a data block, from which you could arrange the 4-20mA signal for your motor. Or you could use a direct analog output to generate this signal. For more information, have a look to the system manual:
