As far as I know the pulse train is not the same as PWM. (see answers 2 and 3 of this page: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/What-is-difference-between-PTO-1967039.S.238628291) With PTO the drive moves a fixed (small) length with any pulse I gets. The S7-1200 is the only actual Siemens PLC family who have a pulse train output.
