Dear all forum members, We are using an equipment which consist of 2 AC motors (master and slave), these 2 are synchronized (one moves CW and other in CCW) so that the vertical up and down movement can be done. The feedbacks of (encoder signals) are taken to verify for the movement/displacement in PLC. As AC drive does the operation. The encoder signal and power supply have been taken and given by an encoder card. This encoder card processes ±5 VDC for PLC and ±15 VDC for AC drives. (Drawings in the attachment of Encoder_PLC_ DRIVE.rar) Quite some time we are facing a problem of signal mismatch in the card, we changed many encoder cards, FM 450 and encoders but still it does happen frequently. We have gone through the manuals (FM 450-1) and figured that there could be a possible way to give the PLC, AC drive and encoder 24 V DC. But we need to change wiring in PLC as the manual (Counter module FM 450-1 A5E03648739-02 page no 37). As present wire connection have all 6 pulses (A, A*, B, B*, Z & Z*) for ±5 VDC. The manual mention to wire 3 pulses connection (A, B, & Z) for ±24 VDC. If we do wire it, then we require a change in PLC program. There is one more complication our PLC program does not uses the standard FM 450 (FC0 & FC1) in return it uses another program to calculate the displacement of both motors (PLC program in the attachment of Encoder_PLC_ DRIVE.rar). We want to rectify the problem by replacing by some new tech devices or to make all (PLC, AC drive and encoder) by modifying the program and removing the encoder card to work on ±24 VDC. I hope all the attachments and description explained our situation.
