In my V5 PCS7 faceplate, the 'tagname' doesn't update automatically (even the PCS7 icons) but in V6 is does. I am working to see how that is done in V6 and adding the same feature to V5. ... I am afraid this is not possible (at least at the user level)... TopCat4692 ...if I assigned it to a dynamic dialog, it loses my settings. ... Can you explain some more? What settings do you lose? S.S.D.D. Posts: 67 Rating: (0)	For example: On my block icon I want to have a text box with a red "A" pop up as an alarm when my tag .ALARM is 0 but I would like it to be hidden when .ALARM is 1. If I go into my dynamic dialog and set up the following: Boolean data type Expression is Program/CFC.ALARM Result is Display when FALSE / No Display when TRUE Everything works fine. Then I strip "Program/CFC" to leave the tag as .ALARM by using the linking function and go back to check my dynamic dialog, the data type has changed to 'Analog' and therefore my settings have been lost. If I link my .ALARM with the tag structure Program/CFC.ALARM again, it does not have the proper dialog anymore. The only way I have found to do this is to list everything under 'Dynamic' under object properties but this really limits my ability to do different functions. It will allow me to display when TRUE and no display when FALSE but this is not how I want it for this example. I would like to perform expanded functions with these faceplates and block icons but WinCC is keeping me stuck in the sand.

Click on any of the other options and click back on your original selection. And everytime click on "ignore" on "Generate tag?" pop-up. This used to be a common bug in older WinCC versions. Posts: 67 Rating: (0)	When I am stripping the Program/CFC off of the tag name (Program/CFC.TAG) do I need to save the .TAG or can I ignore that as the tag will eventually get linked back up again? Ok, I understand you image and I can confirm that is what is really happening. However, it seems when I "link to structure" it is resetting it. i.e. - When I link my image the .TAG goes from .TAG to Program/CFC.TAG but the dynamics change from boolean to analog where as in you example, it stays as boolean. Thanks.

Attach an existing tag in the dynamic dialog. Set colors etc and close dialog by clicking on accept. 2. Open dynamic dialog again and remove the portion before the .tag. 3. Click on accept. 4. Click on ignore. The dialog should close automatically. 5. Now use dynamic wizard "link prototype to a structure" to attach to different tag. Let me know if it works. BTW, which version of WinCC are you using? Regards

Posts: 67 Rating: (0)	I am using V5.2 for this project but I then have to have it all updated and recreatedfor V6.0 and V6.2 versions so at the end of the day I will be working across all of the latest versions. V5.2 can be frustrating because I'm used to all of the little functions I have when using V6.0. I haven't been using the dynamic dialog to strip the tag due to the number of tags I am using in the window; I was using the "linking" function because it puts all of my tags in one location. I will try this method today however. Thanks.
