Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has a good resource I could check out on how to create custom driver in SCL to talk to a device over profinet. What I'm trying to do is communicate with a VACON VFD and asynchronously poll it. The specifics are too much to get into, but the manual for this drive tells you the exact order of the hex values you need to send for a read request and a write request, and the expected response back. If you are interested, the manual is here So for example: I want to send the following to the drive: Request Header 0x03 0x01 0x01 0x01 Parameter Address 0x10 0x01 0x27 0x11 0x00 0x67 and the response I expect back is: Response Header 0x03 0x01 0x01 0x01 Parameter Value 0x42 0x01 0x00 0x0A So the question is how do I write something in SCL that can point at a device on the network using an ID or profinet name and then send those hex values in that order? Is there a book I can read that discusses how to do write a driver in SCL for Profinet? I also thought about using RDREC and WRREC for this, but the setup doesn't seem to apply. |

If you have the profinet drive, this link might apply: http://www.vacon.com/ImageVaultFiles/id_4855/cf_2/Vacon-100-Profinet-IO-Installation-Manual-DPD01031.PDF?634977390328100000 If not, get the gsd/profinet from VACON for the drive you are using. Import to TIA Portal. Now it will let you add it to your project as a distributed I/O device, and add a telegram for monitoring and control. No driver required.
