I am an electrical engineering student designing a DC drive for use as afield supply. I have the schematic and formula for designing the damping resistor Rs to use in the B6C circuit shown in the attached Siemens document "SIMOREG as a field supply unit." My calculations for the damping resistor are not matching the resistor used in an example drive schematic I am using as a guide for my design. For example, if I have a DC motor with a full field current of 40A, what would be a good approximation for the damping resistor connected in parallel with the MOV at IC1 and ID1 on the SIMOREG ? The formula in the document is simple enough, but I'm calculating resistors near 1K ohm, but example drive schematics show three 2-ohm resistors in series. What specific motor parameters should I use to design this resistor? Does it matter what the SIMOREG's source of power is? I.e. 240 VAC on the line side of the module. 3 x 2ohm resisters sounds very low Just looking at some plans for a crane most damping resistors for 220V feild is in the 120ohm plus range |
