Hello Rahul; You could look at that question from many sides, hardware, software, efficiency, power, pricing... But basically, the theoretical difference between H-systems and Software Redundancy is speed of recovery. H-systems (H- for High-Availability)are "hot-standby" topologies, where both S7-400H CPUs are synchronized at every scan using fiber-optic links, and the standby CPU can take over from the primary in a matter of microseconds. Software Redundancy is a "warm-standby" system; it does not synchronize the 2 CPUs completely (only the "redundant" part of the program) and recovery can take many seconds (depending on the network chosen for the redundancy support).
