Hi, May I ask if the FO profibus cable and standard copper cable are using the same profibus ports? With the existing Profibus DP expansion module for PAC meters, is the customer able to install FO profiibus cables? Hello; The screenshot below shows how to connect Profibus nodes to a fiber-optic cable. Each node connects over copper cable to an OLM (optical link module), the PLM connect between the with fiber-optic cable in various topologies. The image shows the OLMs in a ring topology. In the case of your project, you would need 2 OLMs in a simple line topology. The manual below explains the differences between OLMs, depending on the type of fiber (G=glass or P=plastic), the distances you need to cover, and the number of f.o. ports: - OLM P11 uses plastic fiber, for connections of 80 or 400 m , depending on the type of plastic cable; it has one copper port, and one f.o. ST port. - OLM G12 uses glass fiber, for longer distances ( you still have to decide whether you want multimode or single mode fiber, and what frequency optical signal you will use) and has 2 f.o. ports ( for star or ring topologies).and 1 copper port.
