Floating licence and single license

I have to uninstall from 1 pc and reinstall in another PC if I wish to use. Please correctme if I am wrong What does it mean by floating license for 1 user. Regards, Vijay

For use floating license via network, go to the PC that the license is installed in, Open ALM, File, Settings and de-check the check box of "Forbid Remote Use of License Keys". And for more info how to activate remote use of floating licenses, please read this FAQ: How do you store licenses on a server and protect them from unauthorized access? Hope this helps.

The usage of floating license sounds logicalonly when the PG/PCs what the customers haveare networked. Regards, Vijay

I did not get the point. "Transferable" : means that you can transfer license from a drive or PC to another. Both licenses (Floating and single) aare transferable. The difference is that multiple PCs can work using one floating license through the network. which is not allawable for single license.

If i installed software and one floating license in 1 pc (say for simatic manager) . 2. I am installing simatic manager in 3 more PC without any license (for eg). a. If i am doing networking for all these 4 PC, can i work in other 3 pc without license ? b. Can i access Simatic manager from all the 3 pc (where license not present) and main PC together ?? regards vipz

(Because you just have 1 floating license) When you want to use Simatic Manager on more PC's simultanously, you should buy more Floating Licenses. Best regards, Wizard

Best regards, Wizard Hello Wizard, Can license file be on network HDD OR it must be explicitly on networked PC with installed Automation License Manager service, where this PC will be set as "always display in navigation window" in client (PC without license) ALM ?? Mapped network drives are not visible or accesable in ALM so I feel that the second option is the way to go, but I never tried this. Could you use license while it is on license key usb flash? regards, VladD
