Hi, please see this FAQ There are as ever various caveats here In short though, yes there generally is no problem with what you are proposing. Vector control is not necessarily prohibited as long as the motors are mechanically coupled (which in a crane rail gantry they technically will be) as one motor could be deemed as the master with the encoder and the remainder operate on a slip-based torque however, V/F mode is far more forgiving and is probably the way I would do it. ABSOLUTES: The Sum of the Current ratings of all the motors must be less than the drive rating - Obviously The total cable length of all segments (Summed) must not exceed the maximum recommended lengths quoted in the PMxxx manual for the G120. Each motor MUST be individually protected both for Overload and temperature All "Selected" motors must be started at the same time (Some installations use sets of motors in which case, motor data sets would be required) The selection is made before starting and must not be changed during operation. The rating of the braking resistor will need careful selection. Motor ID is not required/will probably fail anyway. Regards, Graeme |
