For certain, this help can't be offered or even can't be useful except after having at least some experience. But how much is here in this forum?? can it be calculated according to years in the field or number of projects invovled?? I'm sure the numbers will be interesting. I'll give it a start, I've been in this for about 8 years participating in 30+ projects other than services. How about you???

Oh dear, I don't even beat youin the absolute number, not even talking about different scale... Anyway, it's 18 for me, 18 months that is. Before that I had some very brief experience with programming something like PLCin assembler, but mostly nothing really related (except perhaps for the part where I can laugh about anything in the primitive HMI used programming language (well, it feels really like laughing in the face of programming to say that) - VBS). So there's no wonder everyone knows so much while I barely can tie up my shoelaces.

For me, I love this job (most of the time), especially when customer is happy and also when the stress is not too high. Sometimes it takes 5 more minutes to reach the solution, so the job is full of challenges and adventure as I have been into many industriesseeing different cultures and technologies. The best part about that job, when I finish a project in a certain factory and go to the market with my friend and find the product of that factory, then I feel proud about it when I tell him, I made this.

I thought that you should experienced in automation field for at least 20 years. 10 years is not a short time specially with a person like you, Histro. And this proves my old thinking that experience can not be measured by only years. But also how many problems you faced, solved, helped to solve, knowledge you know,...etc.

I mean, I don't really get to do any projects or stuff, but still the work I'm doing is great, a lot of different stuff, so you don't fall into a boring routine, overallthe field of automation programming (and the hardware stuff that goes along with it) is in my opinion much deeper than the field of programming appliactions on PC where I had my previous experience. The best part yet was when in March on a local fair in Czech Republic (Ampér, if anyone heard, it's like Hannover Messe, but way smaller (I presume, I haven't been to the later)) and there I met one customer to whom I helped solving some case so we spoke about it and stuff and it felt really great, there I really felt that the work has some sense. I just wish I would get more to some problems of actual programmingon PLCs, becausefrom the moment we met, assembler and I, it was love at first sight.

Handled so many projects - most of them of Drives- Masterdrive, MM Few of simotion, Sinamics, Softstarters Also having some knowledge regarding S7-300,400 some HMIs and...thats it TOTALLY BLANK about this S5 stuff and after that, from Last 1 and half year working as a maintenance engg with all ABB system ACS 800 and looking out all HT system (that too ABB) of our plant So right now onlything connect me with Siemens is this Forum so I love this forum and trying to be maximum here and try to get more and more experience from you all People Btw I agree NICE THREAD Regards Devesh Vithani

I've been working for almost 2.5 years now, had a blast, been afraid, happy, excited, powerful and helpless in a mix that you would never see unless you are watching Greys Anatomy. I've started here and hope to finish here . I see only 1 bad point about this job - I hate to fly
