Where do you want to display your "letters and numbers"?

It seems very complicated, what you want to do. I guess there is an easier way.

Do you know datatype String?

I think the part you are asking about is how to write a single letter followed by a time interval and more letters and time intervals until all letters have been displayed.  Correct?

If so, a state machine is a simple way to go (online search may help, especially if you just search this online support site).

Define all possible states of the display, like INIT, READY, DISPLAYING, PAUSING, which upon completion would revert either to INIT or READY, and after PAUSING would either go to completion (READY perhaps) or DISPLAYING.

IF not INIT, call INIT_DISPLAY( IN: init_letter_data : Letter_UDT; OUT: INIT )
IF READY and Data_to_Display is true, enable DISPLAYING state
IF DISPLAYING state is true, call Display_Letter( IN: Letter_Data : Letter_UDT; OUT: displaying_done : bool )
IF displaying_done and not end_of_word, call Pause (IN: pause time; OUT: pausing_done : bool)

and so on.

 Both CPU and IO module are working. I have a question regarding project I'm trying to build.

I have connected 16 segment 1 digit display to my 1214C and SM 1223 module outputs, the idea is to use PLC as display driver to write the words letter/number by letter/number.

I have made  data blocks for the whole alphabet and 0-9 numbers (each of them is a combination of outputs related with certain segment of display). Can I use these data blocks to write the words, if yes, which is the simplest way to employ them for this purpose (I need an idea how to make a word and how to display them letter by letter in certain order with a certain time gap)?
