Has anyone got a nice and simple step by step path for doing this? How do I select the PG/PC interface for my simulated HMI? I thought i set a connection between the PLC and the HMI and the RT Simulator would look after the connection to the PLCSim when the connections are terminated. But when I use the Virtual Simulator in PLCSim advanced the RT Simulator just wont connect to the PLCSim advanced and I dont know why. I've looked through Reams and reams of manuals and they're all vague and make single statements like "Select the connection in the PG/PC Interface"... but how do I do this? Even a video walkthough in Youtube would be great. Anyone have any help? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Found my own answer. When PLCSim Advacned is running, you can select whether it will communicate Via PLCSim or a virtual ethernet card. (Pic1) When you Select the Ethernet Adapter - You can select if this is going to use a physical adapter or a local communication adapter. I've selected the physical adapter Ethernet0 here. (Again, Pic1) In TIA Portal - Select "Connections" in the project tree to see your connection (Pic2) This will bring up the connections configured for the PC and what access point it is using, in my case, this isS7-Online. (Pic3) So - where is this connected? Where is the PG/PC interface that was so easily available in S7 V5.X? This is a separate program that can be accessed by pressing "Start" and start typing "PG" (Pic4) From here you can see the This is by default set to PLCSim (At least it was on mine) (Pic5) Change the Adapter to the same one PLCSim Advanced is using (Pic 6) Accept with an OK and you should be good to go when you Select the HMI and run the Simulator with the button.
