But i can not use it yet. How can i import it? I tried to copy paste as a new block or to inside of a block as networks. I could not succeed. how can i import your file or how can i open your file?

is there any STL equivalent ? I want to use it for S7-300 coding.

I have tried a very "primitive" way using reference of TEMP variables (aka L0.0 etc..)

but it is primitive and not failsafe.

Anybody has a more elegant solution using indirect addressing?

For example:

Is it possible for you to be more specific? What do you wish to give the FC and what do you expect back?

Assume the call to the FC is:

CALL  "IndirectBool"
  IN  :="inputWord0"   // %IW0 ... WORD
  POS :="bitPosition"  // %MW0 ... INT
  OUT :=#out           // %L0.0 .. BOOL

 
Without diving into indirect addressing, the code can be:

L     #POS  //position
L     1
SLW         //shift mask in position
CAW         //swap bytes
L     #IN
AW
AN ==0      //test: non-zero
=     #OUT

That means -
If %I0.2 is to be extracted then "bitPosition" = 2.
If %I1.5 needs "bitPosition" = 8 + 5 = 13.

Because indirect addressing was avoided, the code will work on an S7-1500 too.

Well, this is an excellent piece of coding but still does not solve the requirement in a manner that would serve my needs.

I want to find a "slicing" equivalent for STL (Word to BIT) by using only internal variables of an FC.

My target is to input a Word and Output in Bits (ie a status Word of a VFD, that is split on Bits),but without using the MW as already done by you, because it would be memory consuming when having to deal with lots of VFDs.

After all it would be easy to open a DB and use the bits with a pointer, but I would like to find a solution with using only TEMP variables (if it is any).

Only the demonstration call was with a memory word. The actual code for the FC does not use any global memory.

Perhaps you are looking to do the following....

L   {the Word that comes from the VFD}
T   %LW0

L   %L1.0
=   {the task that represented by the first bit}

You will need define an Array of Bool and copy the word data onto that array.

the AT overlay may be needed to do so.

Other method is to create an FC which will take the Word, use sliced access (word.X0...Word.X15)

and a index then return the bit value.

FC would be:

Inputs:

I_Word_Register : Word;

I_Index : Int;

Ret_Val : Bool; // Bit Value 

ENO: Bit Value - convenient if you wish to continue rung after FC call

then you do

                                        BTmp   I_Word_Register.X0    Ret_Val
----|I_Index==0|------------()--------------||--------------------------()

   BTmp                                   Ret_Val
----||--------------------------------(RET)

and repeat for all indexes

the (RET) with ret_val option returns ENO=value in ret_val then terminates the block

(privided BTmp is True at this rung)
