Memory Card Install

Hi,

It seems a very silly  question , I have just bought a 6ES75111AK020AB0 CPU.( first S71500 TIA portal job)

I see where the memory card slot ( X50 ) is located , but how can you tell which way around it is meant to go in ???? If you want to change it later, how does it pop out ?

1.Memory card direction is given near slot X50 (3).

2.To remove memory card you need to just push memory card so that it will get slightly loose.Dont apply power supply to CPU while removing memory card otherwise it will damage memory card/CPU.

 only on the Old S7-1500 PLC which have the card slot on the front.

the new one which used here have the card slot on the undersite and no direction picture

This is the CPU I have with no indication of which way it should go

Sorry...by 'notched' ,  I mean, the side with the corner 'cut off' to the left and so the side with the contacts on against the side of the slot next to the ethernet ports ?

Just to clarify.

The memory card is installed with the 'cut corner' opposite the X50 label and the contacts facing towards the base of the module.

It will only insert the proper way.  While the PLC is powered off, try inserted it (gently) the 3 wrong ways.  The contacts facing out should be the first hint that "this cannot be correct", so that's really just 2 reasonable ways to insert the card.

It is configured mechanically so you can only insert it one way.  As it happens, that's the right way.

I just had a similar issue , in fact to even find the slot , nice one siemens hide the card slot and don't put any indication where to find it  S1517.

Actually after searching this forum a photo gave a clue. and to be fair it is indicated on the inside of th front cover grey on grey/  

The S7-1500 system manual shows all the locations for things like the memory card, RUN switch, status LEDs and so on.  I am glad you were resolve the problem and find it by an online search of these forums.
