nandgate Bronze Member Joined: 8/26/2010 Last visit: 2/13/2020 Posts: 319 Rating: (8)	Dear Experts, In order to Set Torque limits i am using the parameters P1520 and P1521 (Torque Upper and Lower Setpoints respectively). But so far i have seen that i can enter only a single/fixed value (Say 7.0 and -7.0 Nm as upper and lower setpoints) and i am entering these values through HMI (through HMI <-> Drive Direct Communication). Is there any way i can make these values variable with respect to my machine working ? Sorry for my bad English. With regards, nand gate.

Supposing that you use a S120 drive, you can change the torque limit source selection through P1522 and P1523. You can assign others parameters, (not P1520 and P1521), parameters that you can change any time through HMI. You can make some parameters with DCC for torque limits and assign them as sources to P1522 and P1523.

PLC and CU320 are communicating with each other through Ethernet . I have used Siemens Telegram 111 (12 Inputs and 12 Outputs ) for Motor module. Out of which 1 telgram word is free (user defined). So the best thing would be to pass the torque limit from my PLC (based on machine logic) to the User defined Telegram and then pass the telegram value toMotor Module Parameter P1522and the inverted value to P1523. But will this work in real time ? I mean this is just an idea, I dont know whether it is practical or not.

Infact in that case, machine was always running on torque Limit(higher) as soon as machine was started so in your case too, this should work Try it Best Luck Regards, Devesh Vithani

My application is a hoist (crane) which makes use of a servo motor to move up and down. When it is standstill (motor is not moving and the brake is in released condition), the torque is close to 3-4 Nm. When the hoist is moving down, the torque is around 1-3 Nm and when the hoist is moving upwards the torque varies between 3 - 8 Nm. Also there is a variation in torque when the motor isaccelerating and deccelerating. Is there any formula or simple mathematical relation which justifies this variation ? i am asking cause this will help me in the torque limitation logic which i am about to write in my PLC. Hi nandgate, i prefer to not use siemens telegram for this type of simple example so please use DCC chart to write various torque value to CU and you can directly access this variable in HMI

But for using DCC option i need a license. I had installed a trial license recently, but it has expired couple of days back. so i have no other option except for using telegram. with regrards, nand gate
