pointer problem with FB andFC

lad_stl Experienced Member Joined: 3/15/2014 Last visit: 12/6/2020 Posts: 101 Rating: (0)	Hi Good day for you all, I have question about using pointer with FB and with FC. are there any restrictions should be taken into cosideration during deal with any of them?.i ask that because in the file i attached here i make FB and FC to make smalljob using pointer but the result was that FB is executed correct (gives the result).but FC does not give the right result.please see the attached pics. and you will understand what i mean. Ebrahim_1 Posts: 79 Rating: (1)	FC 5 is not excuted (not enabled) its being blocked by normally closed logical 1 (m50.1) in OB1. while FB12 is being excuted by OB1

The only restiction I know is when you calling a FB in a FB. As I remember the AR2 is not the same after calling the FB. regards,

It is crystal clear , in FCs the whole complex variables is not generally kept in lokal area but programmer is informed about the place variable existing.In this case it is a DB pointer . I hope this is what you are looking for

Cheers Dear all friends, Just to add a point, Providing ANY pointer to access a Giant complex varaible like STRING is clever but where do you want to copy it and then process it inside an FC? The idea is to read/write access to it where it is actaully (without moving it) e.g set of cells inside a DB so you need DB pointer. For application that requires ANY pointer as crucial parameters of target functions like Block Move or communication blocks, I agree with idea. I hope this clears some doubts now! Hamid Hosseini
