Problem in complete downloading of OS Single station after the first download

massad Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	CBo Hi sameer, at the end on OS download some changes occours, download function looks for "PC Name" configured in source project, destination project, and try to change with real "PC destination name". NO trouble at 1st download because you don't have "OS project folder" on the destination PC station. Sameer, Look into this matter from a different angle. For the 1st download MAC address or PC name can be different. Reason being ease of maintenance and repairs. Suppose in a multi project one OS fails or has a damaged CP1613. In that case it would be impossible to repair it WITHOUT downloading to all AS's & OSs at the same time (with new name or MAC address). This is aninconvenience if it's part of acontinuesoperation plant. We already know that MAC address for CP1613 can be changed to whatever we want (unlike standard Ethernet card). This allows us to change MAC address/PC NAME offline (on replacement OS) and then download to just replacement OS (not every station on the plant). Once OS has a project and network configuration (.xdb files) it willverify network configuration before allowing next download. This is a quite logical approach. IMO for the 1st download connection is made on the basis of Microsoft name service OR MAC address. If any one if them is correct then it will allow the 1st download. Regards

sameer248 Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Dear Massad, As I understand from PRK, the delta transfer was possible but after some time there was a error during delta transfer, which prompted him to do a complete transfer and this is how this problem of total download surfaced. Since Delta transfer was possible, can we not say that the ES was finding the OS correctly with its name and address etc.? Kind regards, Sameer

Kris C Posts: 55 Rating: (4)	This sounds like the issue but how do we repair it. I have two download problems: 1 is a brand new PC station and the other stations has been renamed. So in the second case how to I get the Engineering station project to recognise that this is the correct computer? Can we delete .xdb file and get it regenerated, or go thru netpro and manually change a paramter? I do not have this same problem on the original 4 stations and can download to them everytime. I just have a problem downloading the second time to the other two stations.

Never changes name after MSQL installed, a new complete station installation needed (sometimes only MSQL installation can be enough). Then you have to update "PC Station" in project on the ES and download them again regards

ADSU Regular Member Joined: 4/8/2009 Last visit: 9/18/2025 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hi Guys, I had the same problem andIfixeditgiving administrator rightsto ES user on the target station (in my case the Single Station); I don´t underestand why you have to do that becauseI read on the manual " PCS 7 Security Concept" that ES user just has to be member of Power User, SIMATIC HMI and SIMATIC HMI CS on the Server and Clients but not of the Administrators Group. Couldsomebodyclearto me whythe ES user has to be member of Administrators Group on the target station (server, OS Single Station or Clients)?. Thanks.
