|I'm trying to connect my Field PG to 840D to uplaod, edit and then download a block. When I plug into the mpi port just like any other s7, I can't establish a connection. I am using the cp5611 interface in "auto" detect. Is there something I have to set on the 840D or the PG??
I am missing something. The mpi is alredy connected to the operator panel and the crt/mdi unit. Can't I just piggy-back to the existing connector??

I would suggest, connection via MPI setting rather than AUTO, with respect to the PC/PG interface. This usually works fine, select the relevant connection speed to the connection you are using on the NCU, This can then be tested in the DIAGNOSE function of the PC/PG interface.

Usual problem here is connection speed.
S7 defaults to 1.5Meg The 840D MPI port uses 187.5K. Change the connection speed. If you still have no connection look for nodes to see if it is total non connection or a node number problem.
The node number may have to be changed to 2 in the CPU hardware settings.
Connection can also be made via the OPI (HMI bus) connection. This is 1.5meg but has a node address of 13.
