Hello Melhk; I believe Henri is on the right track, using the USS library you can setup the S7-200 PLC as a master to the MM4 drive; there would be no need for a Profibus-DP master (such as a S7-300) in your project, although Profibus cable and connecters are the recommended links to the drives. Check the requirements for your project and see if USS could be an acceptable solution to control a MM4 drive. hi Meihk, Profibus-plugs are for 2 cables So you can start with the CPU, then go to one slave and from that slave to the other slave. On the first and the last slave you have to put on the restistor. SIMATIC NET PROFIBUS Network Manual System Manual Slaves don´t have a program, they just have inputs and/or outputs, which are acting as an interface to controll the slave. hope this helps, regards, |

Hi dchartier, It was my fault not reading that step. So now I think it's ok for me to work out the connection However I'm trying to config the connection using TIA portal but I cannot find the similar tab to this. So is this possible to do with TIA portal or I have to use Step 7? Thank you |

Hi dchartier, I'm not sure if you're asking for this but here: in the EM277 properties I only see a tab to change V-memory offset and another tab to set the Start address (the 1st pic, I changed it to 10). And then I go to S7-300 properties, there's a tab to review that address, but the size was 0 and I cannot change it (the 2nd pic). Also, if I execute the project using Step7, I see in the example, the Master has some intergrated DI and DO, and they set the Input address I10..12 and Output address O10..11 (the 3rd pic). Then in the EM277, they set up the Input 10..11 and Output 10..11. But when I do the same, it said that the addresses (10..11) have been used and automatically change it to 12..13 (the 4th pic). So I wonder if DI/DO addresses set up in Master related to my project? And if I use another module as master which don't have any DI/DO inside it, do I need to have an external module for it?

Hello Meihk; You canot start a MM4 drive by simple sending it a Control Word value of w#16#047E. The drive must see a rising edge on the LSB of the Control Word in order to start. So you need to write to the Control Word first w#16#047E on one network, then w#16#047F in the next. MICROMASTER 4 (MM4): Setting up an MM4 with a Profibus module https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/view/8894363 Note that you also need to have sent a Speed Reference word to the drive, if not the drive will run at 0 speed: it will not turn, just vibrate a bit. The Speed reference is related to the Max. frequency parameter of the drive, w#16#400 means 100% of that value, w#16#200 means 50%, w#16#1000 means 25%... In this link there are 4 sample programs showing how to control a Siemens drive ( S7-300, Step 7 v5.x). Open the first one ( Load/Transfer instructions) if you want to study the most basic controls if the MM4. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
