Then you can't have S7-400H (real H system)if your plant is really large. You can upload your hardware configuration in order to have more help. I studied a similar issue for a sugarplant but maybe bigger than what you are talking about (4*S7-417). If you are still interested to change your control system into an H one then here arethe points I've checked, 1- Fiber optic network. if you have a large network then you have to study it carefully. I hope you don't have one because the cost will change dramatically. 2- DP/PA couplers and ET200M distributed I/Os. DP/PA couplers and ET200M stations can't be operated under Y-Link. You will need to buy additionalIM153-2 with appropriate bus units (If you don't have bus units). If your IM153-2 of DP/PA couplers is rather old or not HF then you might need to buy the whole Red. bundle for ET200M & DP/PA couplers. You just have to check the part numbers and their product life cycle. 3- The one sided DP slaves (for example ET200S, Drives & Analyzers) For these one sided DP slaves you have to use what so called Y-Link. ThisY-Link hassome restrictions and just don't be fooled with 31 slaves it can communicate with. The most important thing is number of slots (256 slots) and 244 bytes of I/O. ET200S can eat up to 64 slots per single station so just take care of this matter. Then you should also consider geographic locations of these slaves in your plant and how the Profibus network was designed. 4- You should equip your servers with CP1613 A2 (check Red connect license) and reconfigure communication between controllers and servers to be fault tolerant.
