Hello Boskyman, Before replacement of NCU user need to check below points. 1. How many axes are controlled by NC, by PLC? Please check. 2. Need to check software compatibility of system software with NCU. 6FC5250-7BX30-4AH0 system software v 7.4 840D 12 axes. 6FC5250-6BX10-2AH0 system software version 6.2 840DE 6 axes. 3. NCU 6FC5357-0BB25-0AA0 572.5 NC memory is 3 MB, PLC 128 KB. NCU 6FC5357-0BB23-0AE0 572.4 NC memory is 0.5 MB, PLC 98 KB 4. Is Manual turn configured? it is not available with NCU572.5. I suggest you to check system software compatibility with NCU. |

Both NCUs are capable to use the 6 axis of the machine. All of them NC controlled. Actually the NCU 572.4 was in another machine with the same amount of axis.
As I said, I have to control just 6 axis.
That's why we were using a PCMCIA memory expansion card (16Mb, or 8Mb at least). Because internal memory is useless when you load a big MPF file with a big nesting. The problem with the NC backup that was not fitting is because it's full of MPF cutting files, but I achieved to load it before the PL and then to delete the useless files to leave space for the PLC project.
The machine is a waterjet CNC with 2 Y axis in gantry(the bridge), 2 vertical heads at its 2 Z axis, 2 X axis along the bridge. There is no manual turn configured. I don't know how to check system software compatibility between those NCUs... that's why I'm here Actually the PLCs in both machines are nearly the same, just changing the NCU setup. The NCU572.4 had an update in 2016, but I have the initial backups from 2008. Thanks for all your comments!! I'm going to try the tips from @nulizhang about the FB15 and I will tell you more. |

Hello again folks "New" NCU572.4 was giving tones of problems when I was loading any of the NC backups from the NCU572.5 and even was hard to make a Hard Reset to clear the memory... At that point, I started to guess about possible corruption of the ARC files, so I copied from our server that backup files again and I loaded PL ARC file from the NCU572.4 successfully, with no errors at HMI Startup Diagnosis. Then I loaded NC ARC file from NCU572.5 and it did it completely, but giving alarms of Text Errors...but let's focus in the PLC. Then I opened Step7 and I was still not able to go Online(look at attached picture 10)..so I decided to load from PLC to PG the complete project. I selected the Station 13, where PLC314 appears((look at attached picture 11) and after to accept...SURPRISE!! it says it is a CPU 315-2 DP loaded at the PLC (look at attached picture 12) . I don't know if it was 100% ok, but I changed the peripheric devices(UR1 from S7 Project of NCU572.5 that contains real setup) and direct to compile and download to the PLC (look at picture 13 it says is PLC314 at station 13). The download has been ok and I can go Online at HW Config and but it says Online and Offline devices doesn't match! (look at attached picture 14) . But at least it says what device and version it's online... Then I've gone to check Hardware Diagnostic and yes,(look at attached picture 15) .it says the real device is a 6FC5 314-6CF00-0AB0 v1400 with firmware v1.0.5 and not the CPU 315-2 DP (6ES7 315-2AF03-0AB0).
