Hi. Yes, you have a good idea. You can have a timer generate a pulse that the counter can count. You can even have a timer trigger counter 1 (seconds) to trigger counter 2 (minutes) to trigger counter 3 (hours) to trigger counter 4 (days).. if you wish. Making the Txxx and Cxxx addresses retentive, is possible. The ranges however varies from one PLC generation (firmware) to the next. Please see the System Block / Retentive Ranges for your options. Personally I would not try to save the value of the timer. I would keep the timer pulses as short as possible. Furthermore.. I would use V-memory to store counting (not Cxxx counters). V-memory can be used as DWORDs which store a big number. Then I would use the internal EEPROM to store the V-memory. See the recent post [LINK]. ...
